Ondo APC Chairman alleged of advocating military rule

Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin has been accused of
allegedly advocating for military take over in Nigeria. He was alleged to have made this calls in most of the recent political meetings he had with stakeholders in Ondo State.

Political stakeholders in the Sunshine State have therefore expressed deep concern on why a major politician and Chairman of the ruling party in Ondo State would repeatedly advocated for military take over in Nigeria. The stakeholders wondered whether Adetimehin was tired of the present constitutional democracy in the country.

A source who pleaded anonymity said the call for military takeover came as rude shock the first time that Adetimehin mentioned it. The source however added that it was lately becoming a regular rhetorical statement by the Ondo APC Chairman to demand for military takeover in most of his private political meetings.

“The call for military takeover by our chairman came to us as rudest shock, the first time he mentioned it. I was even wondering whether the chairman was drunk that day. But the shock turned to a deep seated worries when oga keep advocating for military takeover in our subsequent political meetings.

“Although I still can’t fathom his reason for military takeover, except maybe he is tired of our present democry. Fellow politicians in our Sunshine State have also expressed the same worry, and they wonder why oga is suddenly drifting from being a known democrat to a military apologist. We are unrepentant democrats and we can’t ever be tired of the best form of governance, even if oga is tired”.

Meanwhile, another APC member also corroborated the same claim. The anonymity craved source, however differred from the stance of the first source. Although the source confirmed that Engr. Adetimehin did make the statement, but was quick to add that it was made as a mere passing joke.

“We all know that Engr. Adetimehin is a long standing politician in Ondo, and no sane person would ever wish for the destruction of what he had laboured for. Of a truth, Chairman jokingly said that military should take over power in Nigeria. But the statement was nothing but a mere joke. Nobody should play politics with a mere and harmless joke of an innocent man by taking it completely out of context”.

All efforts to speak with Engr Adetimehin proved abortive as his phone number was switched off as at the time of filing this report, but the State Director of Media & Publicity of the party, Steve Otaloro called for calm among members.
