Eleven Ondo Assembly Members Plot to Declare Aiyedatiwa Acting Governor After Receiving Bribe in Abuja

In a shocking turn of events, eleven members of the Ondo State House of Assembly are allegedly planning to declare the embattled deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as acting governor without recourse to the governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

These clandestine meetings reportedly took place in Abuja, where each of the eleven members received a substantial bribe of $10,000.

Adding to the intrigue, the Chairman of the APC in the state, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, was present at the meeting, which raised suspicions that he had betrayed Governor Akeredolu in exchange for personal gratifications.

It is also said that some Northern Governors are involved in this move, seeking revenge against Governor Akeredolu for his stance on the southern Presidency and his
strong voice against the issue of killer herdsmen.

Aiyedatiwa, backed by the state APC chairman, Adetimehin, has joined forces with certain individuals from Northern Nigeria to undermine Governor Akeredolu.

The discontent among the Northerners stems from Governor Akeredolu's firm position on the anti-open grazing law.

Furthermore, it has been discovered that Adetimehin is collaborating with the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, in an attempt to remove Akeredolu from office.

It is important to note that the move to declare Aiyedatiwa as acting Governor is likely unconstitutional, as no medical panel has been constituted to assess the governor's health condition.

Besides, sources disclosed that Aiyedatiwa paid for the return ticket of the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, from the United Kingdom to meet with the national chairman and finalise the plan to declare Akeredolu incapacitated and appoint Aiyedatiwa as acting Governor.

The Speaker, it is alleged, received $30,000 as compensation for participating in this scheme, while the party chairman, Adetimehin, reportedly received $50,000 to align himself with Aiyedatiwa.

However, it should be emphasised that this proposed action by only 11 out of the 24 members of the House is unconstitutional and lacks legitimacy.

The plot to declare the governor incapacitated and install Aiyedatiwa as acting Governor is scheduled to take place this Friday, 24th November, 2024 despite the questionable nature of the entire plan.
