APC Leaders, Members Call Ex- Commissioner, Aiyerin, a Mole

• Controversies Trail Aiyerin's Plan to rejoin APC

A former commissioner for Agriculture under governor Mimiko's administration, Charles Olusegun Aiyerin, has been resisted members and leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC, in his political ward, Ilutitun Ward I, in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State.

Aiyerin was alleged to be a mole of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, being the party he left the APC for in the heat of the 2023 general elections and publicly worked for, against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). It was argued that he had not formally return to the APC as he openly did for PDP, and thus cannot be trusted.

It would be recalled that Ayerin publicly resigned from APC in a letter dated 6th of February, 2023, addressed to the Chairman, Ward one Ilutitun in a disparaging manner that put the APC in a public odium.

In the letter and subsequently, Aiyerin allegedly castigated and campaigned vigorously against all the APC candidates - The President, Senator, House of Reps members, House of Assembly members, and yet the party won all the elections. Even in Pastor Aiyerin's polling unit, he was defeated “flat-footed”.

Barely a year that Pastor Aiyerin defected from the APC to PDP, and after vigorously working and holding series of meetings with Atiku/Okowa campaign group in the state, he was said to be parading himself as a member of APC across Ondo State.

Meanwhile, the supposed ward meeting convened last Sunday, 21st January, 2024, at the instance of Mr Aiyerin was disrupted by angry party youth as food items were scattered and thrown away and everybody ran for safety.

The party faithful insist that Aiyerin is not an APC member and that he lacks the locus standi to attend or convey any a meeting in the name of APC. They argued that if he wants to come back to the party, he should decamp formally and make it public like he did when he left the Party for PDP in 2023. "He cannot come back through the backdoor" Chief Julius Akinnawonu, a party chieftain has said.

Another party member,Mr. Ademola Ikuesan, argued, "We won all elections for APC in Ondo State without him. Do APC really need the man? NO! Did he  has any electoral value? your guess is as good as mine. Is he planning to rip where he did not sow, at the detriment of loyal APC members?"

The leaders and members of the party who also called on Governor Ayedatiwa and all Ondo APC leaders to beware of Mr Segun Aiyerin who they described as a mole. They also alleged the Ward Chairman, Mr. Ojuri Omojuwa, of anti-party activities, including conniving with Mr Aiyerin in PDP during the 2023 general elections.
