Coalition of Delta Ijaw PDP Support Groups/ Ijaw Ex-Agitators Gives Notice for Peaceful Protest to Delta Government House, Asaba

A Coalition of Delta Ijaw PDP Support Groups / Ijaw Ex-Agitators has given a  notice for Peaceful Protest to Delta Government House, Asaba for what they termed as total neglect and reckless abandonment after repeated failed promises of those assigned to broker a truce.

The ljaw Youth Groups in a determined move to draw attention to their grievances, , announced plans for a peaceful protest at the Delta State Government House in Asaba. The protest, we reliably gathered is proposed to commence on  16th of July, 2024.
The action according to inside sources is aimed to address unresolved issues despite numerous attempts made  in the past for dialogue with the  State authorities which failed.

The Coalition Groups in a press statement signed by  Okporu Ebi Augustine, Chairman, Vice-Chairman , Gen .Birinumughan Jesse,
 Vice Chairman,Comrade Jackson Agbor, Secretary General, Barr. Prince Nelson, Legal Adviser,Awipi Lawson Peibulou and others made available to the media reads in part:,

" We the members of ljaw  Coalition, Groups who are peace-loving and law-abiding citizens,
here by declare that we  have  made extensive efforts to seek peaceful resolutions  from the Delta State Government but ,all to no avail. We  have written multiple letters and held series of meetings with key political and security figures."

 These efforts include discussions with the Director of Protocols, the Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue, the Chief Security Officer at the Government House, and other relevant authorities at Wellington Hotel in Warri, yet , We could not get our simple demands.

Additionally,  the  ljaw Coalition  Groups, hinted that they also engaged in dialogue  with the Delta State Department of State Security Service (DSS) and the Commissioner of Police. However, the last meeting with the Commissioner of Police was marred by a disconcerting threat from a senior police officer, who warned of military action against the peaceful  ljaw Youths if they dare to protest."

The Statement further remarked : " Despite the  threats,  we the members  of the ljaw  Youth Coalition Groups  remains resolute in our  decision to proceed with the peaceful protest because plans are already concluded for us to  gather at Koka Junction and march to the entrance of the Government House, Asaba where we intend to remain until  our concerns are addressed comprehensively.

The Statement further clarified that the  protest will receive coverage from prominent media outlets, including TVC, Arise TV, AIT, and various local media houses. 
According to the Press release ,other Ijaw pressure groups are expected to join in solidarity with the Coalition's cause.
